In my last meeting with Josephine she spoke of spending the summer at Marcillac-St.Quentin. She explained that she had had hardly any time to start or finish new work, but planned to paint again in her Marcillac-St.Quentin studio. 2 paintings were ready to be shipped over there, but first she had to attend the opening of a new exhibition , which starts at the beginning of May. After the opening she would leave for France. I am really looking forward to see her new paintings since it has been a while i saw new work. The splendid and ultimate monograph on Gerard Verdijk took all her time. Still i now want to focus on one painting that i have in my personal collection for almost a year now. It comes from the former Hans Bronsgeest collection and it is hung opposite Horizontal/Vertical by Gerard Verdijk.
Both paintings blend with our interior . One is from 1994 the other from 1993 and in many ways these paintings are related to each other. It feels like both artist have used the same color scheme in those days and these canvasses are fully abstract. “Infinity” is “just arround the corner” in both paintings and their colors match too.
A selection of Josephine Sloet paintings is availabel at www.ftn-blog.com ( see pages on Josephine Sloet) for more information please inquire at firstname.lastname@example.org
As promissed a few weeks ago, i have now added some of Gerard Verdijk’s paintings that are for sale from this date on at www.ftn-blog.com / Ftn-art
These pages are developed in cooperation with Josephine Sloet who helped me select the works that she considers important and which are available. Many of those are also depicted in the epic book on Gerard Verdijk///THE MOUNTAIN OF EINSTEIN, which is also available at www.ftn-books.com.
It took a few meetings and some fine tuning but now , after a month of preparations, the page with Josephine Sloet paintings is now “live” at ftn-blog.com/josephine-sloet/
These paintings that are presented are all for sale and come from different periods from her career. One of my personal favorites is the TIME MOVING painting. It is a large, bold work of art and not for the faint of hearted, because it stands out and dominates its surroundings and beside that you can not avoid it since it is a very large work of art. It measures an impressive 206 x 206 cm.
A beautiful and impressive painting by Josephine Sloet. For more inquiries on this and other paintings by Josephine Sloet offered by FTN-art, please inquire at email@example.com
About a week ago i announced the cooperation with Josephine Sloet and at that same day we met and had our first ever meeting, we thought it an excellent idea to devote a separate section of FTN-blog to Gerard Verdijk of whom a selection of works will be presented that will be for sale through FTN-art / FTN-blog. We will be making a first selection when we meet again at the beginning of January, so expect some Verdijk works by the end of February . The selection of paintings and/or drawings which will become available will be presented after the site of Josephine Sloet has gone “live” and all works presented will be for sale . For any inquiries please refer to firstname.lastname@example.org

Finally, after a period of over 7 years , the long awaited publication on Gerard Verdijk and his art was presented last month in Amsterdam. After hard work and contributions by many a true MAGNUS OPUS has been published on the art and life of Gerard Verdijk. To give an impression….. it is thick and heavy, a publication with approximately 1000 photographs on Verdijk and his works. 382 pages, size is 12 x 12 inches and the weight…. a heavy 3.1 kg.
But what is more important, this publication has hardly any faults and is an absolute must for the art lover and collector. Edition size is only 700 copies of this 1st and only printing. The MOUNTAIN OF EINSTEIN is a book to hold, collect and cherish and can be ordered as long as it is available for only euro 99,00 ( excl. postage) at :
www.ftn-books.com or you can place your order with Josephine Sloet at : firstname.lastname@example.org.
btw. More news on Josephine Sloet and her art in the next couple of days.
People following this blog know of my admiration for the artist Gerard Verdijk.
Verdijk is becoming increasingly recognized as one of the most avant-garde and influential artists from the last century in the Netherlands, but now his name spreads slowly across the border . During his lifetime his works were collected all over the world and because Verdijk had admirers and collectors everywhere his works can be found in the most unlikely places. Because of his exhibitions in the Netherlands, France, Italy, Germany and even the US his audience grew slowly but constantly and after he had a large retrospective in Dordrecht 2 years ago it is now time for the largest publication ever on Verdijk.
The Mountain of Einstein will be published in an edition of only 500 copies by the end of 2018. It will be a hardcover edition; size : 30 x 30 cm., pages: 396 .
Price ; 99.00 euro
This book will not be available at www.ftn-books.com, but can be ordered with:
Josephine Sloet, Les Places, St. Quentin, 24200 Marcillac, France

First of all a personal note on Gerard Verdijk. I have known Gerard and met him on several occasions because he frequently visited the Haags Gemeentemuseum and its museum shop. One day after one of his visits , in which i expressed my interest in his works, he invited me to come over at his house and look at several ones he had for sale at that moment. Problem was…. i did not have the money to buy a work, but what remained after that visit was the appreciation for his works in which he explored contrasts in shape and color. Many, many years later all fell in place with the acquisition of a very large work by Verdijk, which was part of the Stuyvesant collection and sold at AAG auction. The work titled ….Horizontaal/Verticaal was from 1992 and exhibited at the Stedelijk Museum in the Verdijk exhibition so this together with the Stuyvesant collection it had an excellent provenance and had all the elements in it for which i admired Gerard’s his works. The contrast between the left and right side, the use of color. It looked so simple and yet its complexity is enormous.
That for a personal note. Now it is time Gerard Verdijk is remembered as one of the greatest painters from last century and the Dordrechts Museum recognized that and will open a retrospective on Verdijk on Saturday next, the 30th of July. A well deserved retrospective in which the different periods of his works will clearly show the evolution of Verdijk into the abstract painter he eventually became.
Because i have this personal interest in Verdijk, it is no wonder that the selection of books on Verdijk is quit large. Interested in Verdijk too? look at www-ftn-books.com or mail me for information on the little drawing i have for sale.
