Born in Cincinnati, Wesselmann started his academic career studying psychology in his hometown before pursuing artistic training at the local Art Academy. He spent his professional life residing and working in New York City until he passed away in 2004.
The artist first gained widespread recognition within the art community in 1961 with his *Great American Nude* series. Beyond this, his portfolio includes notable works such as his 1962 still-life depicting a tin of Del Monte Fruit Cocktail. His creative output drew heavy inspiration from themes of “Coca-Cola, fast food, and naughty girls.” Today, his pieces are held by prestigious institutions worldwide, including the Central Museum in Tokyo and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
