Regarded as a premier Swiss Concrete artist of his era, Fritz Glarner (1899\u20131972) departed from his established Zurich-based cohort in 1936 to relocate to the United States. During his time abroad, he fostered a vibrant intellectual dialogue with contemporaries, most notably Piet Mondrian. Central to Glarner\u2019s creative output is the \u201cDining Room\u201d he envisioned for Nelson A. Rockefeller, which serves as a practical application of his \u201cRelational Painting\u201d theory. This work relies on an intuitive, rather than strictly methodical, harmony\u2014achieved through the strategic arrangement of light and shadow, distinct color placement, and varied geometric scales to establish a sophisticated equilibrium of rhythm, proportion, repetition, and nuance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
