The female nude figure is probably the most used subject by Rik Vermeersch. His admiration for women looks almost endless, since he made numerous paintings, drawings and sculptures of nude women. In some way his works remind me of those of Chuck close. From a distance you can see the compositions and subjects. from up close you can see that the portrait/figure is build by painting numerous abstract parts which combined make the composition. The book which ftn-books, has now for sale is one of the last that he published and it is filled with these nude women portraits.
I still have to work out for myself if i like his paintings, i really am not sure. I like Chuck Close his paintings, but perhaps i find the ones by Vermeersch a little too artificial. The book is available at www.ftn-books.com
